The University of Arizona hosted a discussion about journalists in conflict zones. The panelists included former Associated Press correspondent Terry Anderson, who was held hostage in Lebanon for almost seven years and David McCraw, a hostage negotiator and assistant general counsel for the New York Times. The program began with a four-minute video about kidnapped or slain journalists and included an interview with the parents of James Foley. Mr. Foley was beheaded by ISIS* terrorists in Syria in August, 2014, the first American killed by ISIS.

* The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), is a militant group that has called itself the Islamic State. close
