President Obama delivers remarks to the press about the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve following a meeting with members of his Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The task force was formed by executive order December 18, 2014, in the wake of multiple police incidents that resulted in the death of African-American men. The task force submitted a report to the president which contains recommendations on “how to strengthen community policing and strengthen trust among law enforcement officers and the communities they serve,” according to the White House. The president said the report would be made available online for public review. The president thanked all those who participated in the task force, and encouraged the media not to ignore the report and its recommendations. close
