Ronald Reagan Symposium, Panel 2
“Democratic Revolution? Challenges to Fostering Global Freedom” was the theme of Regent University’s 2015 Ronald Reagan Symposium.
President Ronald Reagan’s “Washington Abbey” speech, in which Reagan addressed the British Parliament about the Soviet threat, was shown. Then, panelists talked about President Reagan’s role in defeating the Communists and winning the Cold War. They spoke about President Reagan’s attempts to negotiate with Russian Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, his role as a humanitarian, and the policy differences between Reagan and his predecessor, President Richard Nixon.
