Chair Tom Wheeler testified on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) relationship with the Obama administration. The hearing focused specifically on the FCC’s previous month 3-2 approval along party lines of new"open Internet," also known as “net neutrality,” rules designed to prohibit Internet service providers from blocking or discriminating against legal content moving through their networks. Republicans asserted that the administration pressured Mr. Wheeler into classifying the Internet as a common carrier like telephone service. close
