C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from March 8-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Jami Fullerton talked about her book, Advertising’s War on Terrorism: The Story of the U.S. State Department’s Shared Values Initiative, about a U.S. government funded $15 million advertising campaign to relay the message that America was not at war with Islam. The campaign was initiated following the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and was soon dropped due to negative reaction.
