Jim Yong Kim outlined World Bank initiatives to fight poverty, and ways the international community could work more effectively with the United Nations to end poverty. He reiterated his organization’s goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030, and said that 2015 was a critical year toward attaining that goal. He also said that in 2030 the world would need 40 percent more energy and have 40 percent less fresh water. After his remarks he responded to questions from Mr. Hamre and members of the audience. close
