Hall of Mirrors Barry Eichengreen talked about his book Hall of Mirrors: The Great Depression, The Great Recession, and the Uses and Misuses of History, in which he looks at the similarities and differences between the Great Depression and the Great Recession of 2008-09. In his book, the author recounts how government officials enmeshed in the latter looked to the former historical event for solutions, and argues that although a greater economic calamity was averted, more should have been done. Barry Eichengreen speaks at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. close
