The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing on allegations of sexual misconduct in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The hearing came in response to a Justice Department inspector general report alleging that agents attended illegal sex parties hosted by drug cartels overseas.

Committee members criticized DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart for not firing agents amid the allegations. Ms. Leonhart said she was disappointed in the punishment handed down to those agents, but under the civil service protections law she does not have a role and only Congress can change that.

The FBI deputy director and Justice Department inspector general also appeared before the committee. close
