The Supreme Court heard oral argument in Obergefell v. Hodges, docket number 14-556 Question 2, which was consolidated with three other same-sex marriage cases. The first question heard was whether the 14th Amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex. The cases raising that question were DeBoer v. Snyder from Michigan and Bourke v. Bashear from Kentucky.
