Representative John Delaney (D-MD) talked about a proposal for a job that is dedicated to keeping track of American hostages around the world and developing strategies to help free them. The proposal for the position, also referred to as a “hostage czar,” came about following the accidental killing of American hostage Warren Weinstein in a U.S. drone strike on an al-Qaida compound in Pakistan.

A 4 1/2 minutes session of the House of Representatives interrupted at about 24 minutes into the interview, but the program continues after the House gaveled out. close
