Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified on allegations of political favoritism made against him. The accusations arose from an inspector general report that alleges Mr. Mayorkas, while serving as head of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, gave special access through the EB-5 visa program, which allows foreign nationals to get a visa if they invest $500,000 to $1 million in a project or business that creates jobs for U.S. citizens

In the hearing, he did not admit to any wrongdoing but said he regrets getting personally involved to resolve situations, thus giving employees the appearance of special access. close
