President Obama spoke with middle-school students at the Anacostia Neighborhood Library in Washington, D.C., and those watching the event from around the country. He answered questions about his experiences in school, his favorite books, and technology in the classroom in this “virtual field trip.” The event was moderated by a sixth grader from Salisbury, Maryland. President Obama began by announcing a plan for libraries and major publishers to give free e-Books to low-income students and also the ConnectED Library Challenge that has the goal of putting a library card in every child’s hand to ensure they have access to not only books, but public Internet. close
