Robert Ripley talked about the design features of the Nebraska State Capitol building, the third to be erected on the site. It was America’s first statehouse design to radically depart from the prototypical form of the United States Capitol and use an office tower. Constructed in four phases from 1922-1932, the building was completed at a cost just under its $10 million budget.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Lincoln, Nebraska, from May 3-7 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
