Gene Kimmelman and Harold Furchtgott-Roth talked about the proposed merger of Charter Communications with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks and what it would mean for U.S. media, especially for television, the Internet, and video streaming. The merger would make Charter the second largest cable company, following only Comcast. Comcast itself had tried to merge with Time Warner Cable earlier in the year, but announced in April 2015 it would end the effort, which had met with resistance from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Justice officials. close
