Economists presented three papers the effect on inequality of the practice of “quantitative easing,” a policy in which the Federal Reserve purchases bonds in order to stimulate the economy.

Josh Bivens presented his paper on the channels through which monetary policies influence inequality, “Inequality and Monetary Policy, Conventional and Unconventional,” which he then discussed with Susan Lund.

Erik Hurst and Andreas Fuster presented their paper on whether regional differences should figure into monetary policy decisions that may affect inequality, “Regional Heterogeneity and Monetary Policy,” which they then discussed with Mark Zandi.
