Takata Air Bag Recall
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Administrator Mark Rosekind said the agency was urging car owners with Takata airbags to check safercar.gov regularly to see if their vehicle is a part of the nationwide recall, and that NHTSA was still working to put all effected vehicles on the site. Takata’s North America Division Executive Vice President Kevin Kennedy told the committee that his company was working with NHTSA and automakers to make the necessary repairs.

Witnesses testified at a hearing on concerns that air bags made by Japanese auto supplier Takata could deploy too forcefully, thus spraying metal fragments inside the vehicle. In May 2015, the company expanded its recall in the U.S. to more than 30 million cara. The recall affected 10 automakers, including Honda, Toyota, Ford, and General Motors.
