Dignitaries spoke at a ceremony to honor Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer on May 30, 2015, at the age of 46. As a former state attorney general, he lay in honor in the Senate Chamber of the Delaware Legislative Hall. In the brief service that preceded the public viewing, Beau Biden was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross, Delaware’s highest honor, for his “heroism, meritorious service and outstanding achievement.” His father, Vice President Joe Biden, and his entire extended family accepted condolences.
