Homeland Security adviser Lisa Monaco spoke with reporters at the White House daily briefing about President Obama’s announcement earlier in the day of changes in how the government would deal with cases of U.S. hostages overseas, including that the government would no longer threaten to criminally prosecute families of American hostages who paid ransom to terrorist groups. She responded to questions from the White House reporters.

Afterward, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest continued the daily briefing by responding to questions on a variety of issues, including the Iranian nuclear negotiations, the Office of Personnel management (OPM) data breach, and allegations of U.S. spying in France. close
