Former first lady Laura Bush was among the speakers at a national summit on creating employment opportunities for veterans and military families. The event also served as the launch of the Veteran Employment Transition (VET) Roadmap, a military transition guide co-authored by the George W. Bush Institute and Hiring Our Heroes. Soledad O’Brien showed a clip of her documentary The War Comes Home. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer was introduced by video from “60 Minutes.” A video by Capital One celebrated the Hiring 500,000 Heroes program.
