Panel Discussion on African-American Identity
“Fashioning the Self: The Image in Black” was a panel discussion at the 2015 Harlem Book Fair from the Langston Hughes Auditorium in the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
Panelists at the Harlem Book Fair talked about African-American identity. Nell Irvin Painter is the author of The History of White People, Noliwe Rooks is the author of Hair Raising: Beauty, Culture, and African American Women, and Nichelle Gainer is the author of Vintage Black Glamour. The panel was moderated by Aimee Meredith Cox, author of Shapeshifters: Black Girls and the Choreography of Citizenship.
