Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and France’s Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian spoke to reporters following a meeting at the Pentagon. They spoke about continuing coalition efforts in the Middle East, specifically in combating *ISIS, as well as ongoing U.S. support for French efforts in North and West Africa against al-Qaeda affiliates and other terrorist groups. Secretary Carter characterized the U.S.-French defense relationship as “the best it’s been in a very long time,” and said he was committed to further strengthening the partnership. close
