Battle of Mobile Bay
John Quarstein talked about the Battle of Mobile Bay in August 1864, and the roles played by Union Rear Admiral David Farragut and the Confederate Admiral Franklin Buchanan. The victory, coupled with the fall of Atlanta to Union General William Tecumseh Sherman in early September, gave a boost to President Abraham Lincoln’s bid for re-election just a couple of months later. close
