Professor Eric Allen Hall spoke about professional tennis player Arthur Ashe’s personal life, career, and involvement in the Civil Rights movement in both the United States and South Africa. In his book, Arthur Ashe: Tennis and Justice in the Civil Rights Era, Professor Hall explores how the Richmond, Virginia, native and African American overcame racial and class barriers to win three of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. close
