Governor John Kasich (R-OH) held his first town hall meeting at the Portsmouth Country Club in Greenland, New Hampshire, following his announcement of his 2016 presidential candidacy the previous day. He introduced himself with some personal stories and detailing his economic agenda. In remarks, Governor Kasich said the U.S. government should rally support for sending troops to combat *ISIL. In addition, in the wake of the shootings in Chattanooga, he said military recruiters should be armed to defend themselves. Other topics addressed included the economy, energy policy, balancing climate change with economic growth, health care, the federal budget, and defense investments. After the question period Governor Kasich mingled with the crowd and then spoke with reporters.
