Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) criticized Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for blocking further amendments to the highway funding bill. One of the amendments Senator McConnell had just filed would reauthorize the Export-Import Bank. Senator Cruz accused Senator McConnell of having lied to him about a deal to preserve the bank when Senator Cruz voted for a trade bill that killed funding for the bank. Senator McConnell’s actions would also keep Senator Cruz from offering an amendment on the Iran nuclear agreement to set conditions to be met before sanctions would be lifted. close
