Panelists talked about the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) made opening remarks on the history of voting rights. The panelists discussed among other topics whether the Voting Rights Act was still necessary, and voter identification, fraud, and discrimination.

The Voting Rights Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson August 6, 1965.
