Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) held a news conference on the Senate agenda. He reviewed the Senate’s work over the last seven months under Republican control, including the number of bills passed, amendments voted on, and bills signed into law by President Obama. He also discussed and was asked about the fall legislative agenda, including the Iran nuclear agreement, budget reconciliation, Planned Parenthood funding, and abortion legislation. He vowed that there would be no government shutdown in the fall due to budget disputes. The Senate adjourned the previous day for its August recess and was scheduled to return on September 8, 2015. close
