Panelists talked about the history of civil rights in America. The panel was moderated by Robby Luckett, director of the Margaret Walker Center for the Study of the African-American Experience at Jackson State University. The panelists were: Tiyi Morris, author of Womanpower Unlimited and the Black Freedom Struggle in Mississippi; Jon Hale, author of To Write in the Light of Freedom: The Newspapers of the 1964 Mississippi Freedom Schools; Aram Goudsouzian, author of Down to the Crossroads: Civil Rights, Black Power, and the Meredith March Against Fear; and Devery Anderson, author of Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.

“Civil Rights History” was a panel of the inaugural Mississippi Book Festival, held in the Old Supreme Court Chamber in the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson. close
