Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL), the Democratic National Committee chair, said she was supporting the nuclear agreement between the P5+1 powers and Iran after “a thorough review process.” Besides achieving the goal of blocking Iran’s pathways to building a nuclear warhead, she said the deal was also key to the security of the U.S. and Israel. Afterward, Representative Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), the Financial Services Committee chair, argued the deal was good for Iran but “very bad” for the United States, and talked about the lifting of sanctions against Iran being one of the weakest parts of the agreement. close
