President George H. W. Bush spoke in a campaign appearance in the Fox Park neighborhood in St. Louis to discuss crime issues in the 1992 presidential campaign. Flanked by Senators John Danforth and Phil Gramm and local law enforcement officers, President Bush criticized the record of his opponent on crime in Arkansas and recalled the death of a woman in Baltimore who was killed when she was dragged by two men who stole her car. The president urged stricter measures against criminals, harsher penalties for criminals who use guns, and tightened laws on child support. close
