Telephone lines and social media were open for comments on Pope Francis' historic address to a joint meeting of Congress and his visit to the U.S. Throughout the program, several people were interviewed from the west front lawn of the U.S. Capitol about their reasons for coming the Washington, D.C., for the pope’s visit.

Terrance Gainer spoke by phone about security preparations and precautions being for Pope Frances' address. Mr. was formerly Senate sergeant at arms and U.S. Capitol Police chief.

Bob Cusack, editor-in-chief of The Hill, spoke by phone about political topics that could come up during Pope Francis' address, as well as what Democrats and Republicans hope to hear. close
