Christine Lagarde spoke at a Brookings Institution forum on implementation of the International Monetary Fund’s development agenda. The agenda includes empowering women in over 200 countries, a plan she said she believes would greatly improve the gross domestic product for each country within five years. She also said that the implementation of telecommunications into many African countries would allow entrepreneurs to open bank accounts and obtain small business loans. She also took questions from the audience. close
