They considered what a Russian presence means for the multifaceted Syrian opposition, as well as the regional and international military and security implications of a Russian-backed Bashar al-Assad regime. Earlier that day, Russian President Vladimir Putin had made remarks before the United Nations General Assembly, and the panel responded to some of those statements as well. close
