C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Buffalo, New York, from August 8-14 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Barbara Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram talked about their book, Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Write to the New First Lady. Shortly after the 2008 election, the Uncrowned Queens Institute in Buffalo, New York, sent out a call cross the country for African American women to share their hopes, fears, and advice with the new first lady, Michelle Obama. Ms. Nevergold and Ms. Brooks-Bertram spoke about the significance of the letters and poems they received.
