Defense Secretary Ashton Carter held a news conference and responded to questions on a range of issues, including Russian airstrikes in Syria and the continuing resolution to fund the government through December 11. Secretary Carter said that Russian actions in Syria were unprofessional and tantamount to “pouring gasoline on the fire.” He also said that Russian airstikes in Syria appeared to be in areas that were not occupied by ISIL* forces.
