President Obama announced the resignation of Education Secretary Arne Duncan, effective at the end of the year. President Obama said he would be replaced on an acting basis by his deputy, John King. He also responded to questions from reporters on a variety of topics, including the need for gun control in the wake of the the September 30, 2015, shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.
