President Obama gave a keynote speech at an awards dinner of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. In his remarks, he vowed to continue his push for comprehensive change to immigration laws and highlighted his differences with Republicans. He decried what he called the “anti-immigrant sentiment” and urged Republican lawmakers to follow the lead of former President George W. Bush who called for changes to the immigration system. The president was introduced by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.

The 38th Annual Awards Gala themed “Powering Growth and Influence” was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. close
