Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin spoke at a forum hosted by George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. He talked about national security and domestic terrorism threats to the U.S., and outlined the legal challenges the Justice Department faces in prosecuting certain cases. He also announced the creation of a new national security position, the Domestic Terrorism Counsel, to help combat homegrown terror threats. Following his prepared remarks, Mr. Carlin answered questions from Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project and from members of the audience. close
