The Witch of Lime Street David Jaher talked about his book, The Witch of Lime Street, in which he recalls how, in the early 20th century, American’s became fascinated with Spiritualism, a belief based on purported communication with the dead. In his book, the author reports on the woman central to the movement, Mina Crandon, dubbed “The Witch of Lime Street.” Her attempts to convince her skeptics, at a contest sponsored by Scientific American, proved unsuccessful due to the doubts of one of the five judges, Harry Houdini. close
