History professors talked about some of the prevailing myths about western history. The panel was titled “Doing Battle with the Zombies of Western History.” The zombies, they explained, are stories about Western stereotypes that consistently reappear over time and are exaggerated or untrue. The scholars gave examples of these “zombies” and provided theories on why these stories keep coming back. close
