This House Un-American Activities Committee film documents events that took place at a field hearing in San Francisco’s City Hall from May 12-14, 1960. The field hearing was disrupted by protesters the committee claimed were “communist infiltrators.” This charge was disputed by many groups including the American Civil Liberties Union, which created its own film called Operation Correction in response. According to Time Magazine, Operation Abolition was seen by an estimated 15 million people through screenings by various schools and civic organizations. close
