Vice President Quayle spoke to an enthusiastic crowd on the day following the vice presidential debate in Atlanta, GA. Prior to his remarks, the vice president and his wife were presented with Auburn University sweatshirts, and the vice president was introduced by the mayor of Montgomery, Alabama. Vice President Quayle criticized Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Al Gore for failing to defend the character of Democratic presidential nominee Gov. Bill Clinton during the debate. He also said Gov. Clinton has “trouble telling the truth,” and repeated some of his arguments from the previous evening’s debate. Following his remarks, the vice president threw frisbees and balls into the crowd. close
