Representatives of the American Conservatives Union spoke at a news conference at the National Press Club to analyze the results of the 1992 elections in terms of politically conservative candidates. Rep. Vin Weber (R-MI) stated that the elections did not indicate a major defeat for conservatives, despite the loss of the presidency to the Democrats, because of the gain by the Republicans in the House of Representatives. He also denied that the election indicated a mandate for the policies of Governor Bill Clinton. close
