Mr. Jipping and Ms. Stone debated the role of the religious right in the conservative political movement in America in a forum provided by the Free Congress Foundation. Ms. Stone, who headed a movement for the inclusion of abortion rights in the 1992 Republican national convention platform, criticized the role of the religious right in the 1992 presidential and congressional elections. Mr. Jipping argued to justify the religious right’s prominent role in national conservative politics. The two panelists responded to questions from members of the audience following their prepared remarks. close
