President-elect Clinton and President Salinas spoke in a news conference outside the Texas state capitol shortly after their meeting to discuss U.S.-Mexico relations, including the North American Free Trade Agreement. Translation from English to Spanish and Spanish to English was made by an interpreter at the scene. President-elect Clinton said the meeting also included discussion on drug, labor and environmental issues as well as economic issues. Protestors of the North American Free Trade Agreement chanted audibly in the distance during the news conference. close
