President Bill Clinton spoke from the White House to announce action on environmental policy by his administration. He announced the creation of the White House Office of Environmental Policy, which would replace the President’s Council on Environmental Quality. He also said he would move ahead to make the environmental agency part of his presidential cabinet. Vice President Gore accompanied the president during the statement. Following his prepared remarks, the president left the room while the vice president responded to reporters' questions. close
