The Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee heard from Secretary of Education Richard Riley and Secretary of Labor Robert Reich on proposals to improve the education and training of the nation’s work force. The hearing was the first in the history of the Senate in which the secretaries of two departments appeared together before a committee. Secretary Reich said the two secretaries were testifying together because they felt education and worker training were closely intertwined. close
