1988 Republican National Convention presidential nomination of George H. W. Bush. The Convention was gaveled in and Representative Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, and Convention Deputy Permanent Chairman - presented the color guards. Speakers included Representative Robert Dole, R-Kansas, Elaine Choa, Chair, Federal Maritime Commission, William Bennett, Secretary of Education, Senator Phil Gramm, R-Texas, and Columba Bush, wife of Jeb Bush. Each state delegate presented their votes. The Convention was held in the Louisiana Superdome - New Orleans. close
