Mayor Tom Bradley and Police Commissioner Willie Williams spoke in a news conference to announce the preparations of Los Angeles law enforcement personnel for the verdict in the second trial of four white police officers charged with the beating of a black suspect. Riots broke out in Los Angeles and other cities in 1992 when the four officers were acquitted in their first trial. The second trial, on federal charges, was expected to come to a conclusion during the week. close
