Speakers discussed labor issues including health care reform and construction safety during the 1993 legislative conference of the building and construction division of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). Labor Secretary Robert Reich addressed the conferees on the agenda for labor in the Clinton administration’s economic program. Following Secretary Reich’s remarks, Dr. Daniel Mintz discussed the diabetes research program being conducted in Florida funded in part by contributions solicited by the union. The program included a number of short films which aired between speakers. close
